Data stored locally
Akeru Bot stores projects, chats, settings, secrets, logs, reviewed policy versions, and cached data under the Akeru Bot data directory on the environment you control. The project does not require a hosted Akeru account. Direct remote connections may carry this data between your own devices and environment.
02
Data sent to other services
- Providers. Prompts, selected files, tool results, screenshots, and conversation context go to the provider CLI or service you choose. That provider controls its own processing and retention.
- Product feedback. Feedback you submit goes to the Akeru feedback service, may be kept there for up to 90 days, and may be posted publicly to the Akeru Bot GitHub Issues tab until a maintainer removes it.
- Voice. During a voice call, microphone audio and session data go to the ChatGPT Realtime service.
- Updates. Provider checks contact provider release sources. Signed desktop builds contact the configured release host to check for and download updates.
- Optional analytics. If you opt in and the distributor configures PostHog, Akeru Bot sends app version, platform, architecture, client type, and feature events with a random installation identifier. It does not use a provider account identifier.

Your controls
Privacy settings let you turn analytics, product feedback, voice calls, and provider update checks on or off. Analytics starts off. You can stop provider data transfers by not starting a provider run or by disconnecting that provider.
04
Retention
Local data remains until you remove it. Akeru Bot does not control the retention rules of your selected providers, release hosts, app stores, or ChatGPT. Review those services before you send confidential or regulated data.
